Happy Birthday Ubuntu!

Do you know when Ubuntu firstly released? How many Ubuntu version has been released since its debut? What’s your answer?

Last October 20th ago, Ubuntu has just celebrated its seventh birthday. Please say “Happy birthday, Ubuntu” First debut of Ubuntu was announced by Mark Shuttleworth on October 20th 2004, named Ubuntu 4.10 dubbed as “Warty Warthong.” I admit, I’m really unfamiliar with this oldest version. If you ask me, I just know Ubuntu 8.04 LTS (Hardy Heron) or the newer.

RIM, Pinning Its All Hopes to OS 7?

Smartphone competition is getting hotter right now. Apple with its iOS, and Samsung with its Android fight each other to get the top position. While, as if anything was getting worse for RIM, since RIM continually lost its market shares. Could RIM raise up, and get back its great market shares as before?

I think Android and iOS are still too strong for RIM to beat. But RIM will not let this unhealthy condition increases. On early August ago RIM tried to answer its customers desire, by unveilling Blackberry 7 OS. What the upcoming features this Canadian phone maker will offer? Featuring Windows Phone? Is that True Decision, Nokia?

Maybe Nokia is in very bad situation at these recent months during this ongoing year. Nokia lost a lot of its market share in smartphone competition. A lot of analysts supposed, the wrong way Nokia did by featuring Microsoft with its Windows Phone project.

I read comments regarding "Nokia Market Share Progress" posted in several news site, and a lot of them regretted Nokia Way in Windows Phone Project. "Nokia should feature the most leading smartphone OS, such Android OS, not Windows Phone", they said.

Really Surprising! Apple is Recalling iPad 2?

I'm really surprised when several leading news sites informed that Apple was in process of recalling its Verizon iPad 2. How many iPad 2 was recalled? I don't know exactly, since no site informed the exact number included Apple side. Apple side just stated "an extremely small number". Hehm?

Of course this recalling affected to iPad 2 supplies, which right now Apple is struggling to meet demand. By the way do yo know this recalling reason?

This is something really really bad for you, users of Windows Mobile 6.x, since Microsoft will immediately discontinue its service, Windows Mobile 6.x service and Windows Mobile 6.x Market Place. And this week, Microsoft is sending its users, this discontinuing notifications.
When? Beginning on July 15, the services on http://marketplace.windowsphone.com won't be available again for Windows Mobile 6.x.

Galaxy Tab 10.1 Now Available

South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics has just made available for its new product Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 running under Android 3.1 Honeycomb OS. The tablet PC was unveiled in March of this year as the slimmest tablet.

For the time being, this tablet is only available in the United States via Best Buy's New York City store (Click here). But don't worry because this tablet was made available for pre-order for the worldwide and expected to be available on June 17th.

PayPal Will End Its Partnership with Alibaba.com

PayPal will end its partnership with AliExpress, the wholesale website of Alibaba.com, beginning early August.

"PayPal remains deeply committed to China by providing Chinese merchants access to a safer and easier way to sell to millions of our users all over the world. And our business is strong," Dickson Seow, director of communications for PayPal Asia Pacific, said on PayPal's blog.

PayPal said its total payment volume in China was more than $4.4 billion in 2010, up 44 percent from a year ago. Alibaba.com is a unit of Alibaba Group, which is about 40 percent owned by Yahoo Inc.

Chromebook Could Pinch Microsoft?

A lot of licensing expert stated that Google’s Chromebook subscription could pinch Microsoft in the next near time. Do you also believe it?

Google announced June 15, as launch date of Chromebook. Chromebook will initially be available from Acer and Samsung.
Chromebook subscription would be $336 a year, plus another $50 for Google Apps. While, Microsoft costs between $300 and $375 a year, depending on volume.

Youtube has just released its new service "Movie Rental". Youtube offers movies from major Hollywood studios such Universal, Sony Pictures and Warner Brothers. If you like movies from these famous studios, you must try this service immediatey! :D

Of course Youtbe must be ready to compete with several current other players, especially Amazon's Video. Youtube also must compete with Netflix, although Netflix is different service where Netflix provides monthly subscription, not like pay-per-view like Youtube offering.

Security Release of Wordpress 3.1.2 is Now Available

Wordpress development team has released Wordpress 3.1.2 to addresses some vulnerabilities for all previous Wordpress versions. For example a vunerability that allowed Contributor-level users improperly publish posts. This issue was discovered by a member of Wordpress security team, Andrew Nacin with Benjamin Balter. This release also fixes a few bugs that missed the boat for version 3.1.1.

Because begin next month Facebook will launches Facebook in two versions, Facebook Free and Facebook Pro.

And what's the difference actually?
You'll get some limitations for your each post when using Facebook Free, such as a limited size for the thumbnail image, large banner ads and popup. While if you use Facebook Pro you shouldn't be worried about limit size and quality when you post links, photos, or videos maybe.

It's really hard for me to say that Yahoo Buzz will be shut down 2 days again or next April 21. By the way, I use digg.com, stumbleupon.com, and delicious.com to share my blog's link, not buzz.yahoo.com. So, I will not cry more right now. :D

Remember, in the first time when Yahoo launched this application, they stated that Yahoo Buzz would be competitor to digg.com. Yahoo Buzz was launched on 2008 as a social news agregator, but it's not as popular as digg.com and unable to attract a lot of users.

UC Web 7.4 Released! Feel Great Experiences of It!

UC Company has just released its great version browser, UC Web Browser 7.4. Of course there are a lot of differences with the older versions. A lot of weakness founded on the older versions have been repaired, also several addition tools that makes this version deserves to compete with other popular mobile browsers such Opmin, Firefox, and Ovi.

Actually, I seldom used UC browser, because I was loyal with my Opmin browser. But it changed to be different, after my friend told me that she prefered to use UC browser to Opmin, by stating "UC Web is faster than Opmin in download". Before I didn't believe it at all.
