Maybe Nokia is in very bad situation at these recent months during this ongoing year. Nokia lost a lot of its market share in smartphone competition. A lot of analysts supposed, the wrong way Nokia did by featuring Microsoft with its Windows Phone project.I read comments regarding "Nokia Market Share Progress" posted in several news site, and a lot of them regretted Nokia Way in Windows Phone Project. "Nokia should feature the most leading smartphone OS, such Android OS, not Windows Phone", they said.
Look backward! Do you know, last year Nokia could sell a fantastic number 432 million devices, more than its three closest rivals combined. Although, Nokia was still as the global leader in mobile phone sale in that fourth quarter, but for the first time its closest rival Android-based smartphones shipment reached 32.9 million. The number that surpassed Nokia's Symbian platform handsets. Nokia market share plummeted to 30% from 40% a year earlier. So it's right that Nokia is facing stiff competition from RIM, Apple iPhone, and Google Android.
Also, since Nokia announced its partnership with Microsoft February 11 ago, Nokia has lost more than a quarter of its stock. Did Nokia make wrong decision?
However, I appreciate very much for what Nokia did, since Nokia didn't want following Samsung, or HTC way in choosing Android as their smartphone OS. Although it wasn't an easy thing to use an OS which was still unable to attract more users, but Nokia shown us to do something different. Moreover, Windows Phone 7.5 Mango now is getting significant changes. Even some analysts predict, Windows Phone will be next leading smartphone OS in the next near time. And maybe, this is Stephen Elop's major reason to accept Windows Phone. What do you think, Guys?
